Clocks go ahead one hour tonight

Postby Cableguy » Sat Mar 13, 2010 1:47 pm

TORONTO — This is the weekend most Canadians lose an hour of sleep as they switch from Standard Time to Daylight Time.

Before going to bed Saturday night, time pieces should be set ahead one hour.

The major Canadian exception is Saskatchewan, which stays on Standard Time year-round.

Some studies have shown that on the Monday following the spring time change, the number of traffic accidents has risen as much as 17 per cent -- with sleep experts blaming the lost hour of shuteye.

Studies also slow no major reduction in traffic accidents in the fall when clocks are set back one hour, giving drivers a little extra nap time.

This year, Daylight Time ends on Nov. 7.

Studies also showed more heart attacks occur during this time.

Awww Damnit, I forgot about this. That means instead of my wife setting the alarm clock for 6am and letting it drive me nuts for an hour while she sleeps through it, it will really be going off at what my internal clock thinks is 5am.
